As a small church with a big vision, Lighthouse Church Van Nuys is a local church with international expression.

We sponsor, oversee, pray for and churches and schools in Guatemala and Pakistan.

The Guatemala ministry came about when Pastor Mike Ashcraft was a missionary there from 1996 to 2010 in the Capitol City. He and his wife planted churches and founded a school, of which he was both principal and teacher. At present, the school has some 100 kids in grades K-9 and the church regularly has 50 people in attendance.

Pastor Ludving Navarro was named pastor of the Guatemala church when Pastor Mike had to return to the United States. He, his wife Nelly, his daughters Jenny and Mimi have led the church and school since June 2010.

The Pakistan ministry was born out of a great desire to reach Muslims for Christ in obedience to Mark 16:15, which says, “Go into all the world and preach the Gospel to all creation.” Pakistan is exactly half way around the world from Los Angeles, making it quite literally one of the furthest corners. More significantly, Pakistan lies in the so-called 10/40 window between latitudes 10 and 40) that is considered the least-evangelized region in the world.

Pastor Sarfraz Anwar leads the church and school in Pakistan. Currently, the school has 240 children. It represents a real chance for the kids to break out of the cycle of vicious poverty that results from discrimination against Christians, a religious minority in the country.

Pastor Mike rejoices in the chance to serve you and build you up. He is always mindful of the bigger picture of scripture that together we can do so much good in the world and make an impact for eternity.
